Hanken School of Economics

Hanken School of Economics, one of the oldest university-level business schools in the Nordic countries, was established in 1909. We are an accredited (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA) stand-alone business school in Finland and a proud partner of universities such as University of Mannheim Business School and School of Business and Economics at the University of Münster. Our internationally recognised areas of strength in research are ‘Competition Economics and Service Strategy’, ‘Financial Management, Accounting and Governance’, ‘Responsible Organising’, and ‘Leading people for Growth and Well-being’.

Studies at Hanken encourage your critical thinking and hence both your methodological and analytical skills evolve in order to adapt to a continuously changing business environment. The Master’s degree programme and our International Talent initiative, where students receive a mentor at a Finnish company during their first semester, gives you the opportunity to specialise and become a true professional.

MSc in Economics and Business Administration is a two-year leadership and business programme given in English. Hanken is located both in the downtown of Finland’s capital, Helsinki, and in the energy capital of the North, Vaasa.

Student Life

Hanken has two study locations: Helsinki and Vaasa. The capital of Finland - Helsinki -  with a population of approximately 500 000, Helsinki is big enough to have everything you may want or need, yet small enough to easily find your way. Helsinki is located on the Southern coast of Finland well connected ´by rail and sea to both Sweden, the Baltics and Russia. Student union in Helsinki offers a variety of both business and leisure activities and help to connect with students from other universities in the capital region.

Vaasa is, in proportion to Finland's population, the second largest student city in the country. Statistically, every fifth person in Vaasa is a student.  Vaasa is a small city but has everything that a student may need. The large number of students and a great student community makes it easy to find new friends. Vaasa is a popular destination for international students and is a multicultural city with beautiful nature, and a wide variety of activities available.
