Connecting health of humans, animals and the environment
The One Health concept recognises that health of people is connected to (the health of) animals and the environment and vice versa. The One Health approach in research involves interdisciplinary research by collaborations between physicians, veterinarians, epidemiologists, microbiologists and ecologists, to monitor, study, evaluate, model and control public health threats. This is realised by studying how diseases spread among people, animals, and the environment. One Health is not a new concept, but it has become more important in recent years.
The right choice for you?
One Health research integrates concepts from human and veterinary epidemiology, ecology and population dynamics, microbiology and toxicology. It requires a basic knowledge of biomedical concepts such as infection and immunity, infectious diseases etiology, and population medicine. This Master’s programme is the right choice for you, if you’re motivated to become a multidisciplinary researcher at the interface between humans, animals and the environment.
