The Master of Science in International Information Systems is a four semester program for young talents who aim for challenging management positions in globally operating high-tech firms. Offered jointly by the School of Business and Economics at the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law situated in the city of Nuremberg and the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Engineering in Erlangen, the program’s curriculum includes courses in the fields of international information systems management, database systems and software engineering. The international nature of the program is fostered by its participants coming from many different countries, the mandatory study abroad period and courses focusing on the international aspects of information systems management. Each year around 50 students enroll in the master's program, of whom about 50% are international. So far, these international students came from 33 different countries all over the world. Excellent learning and working conditions prepare students for an international career in business with a strong focus on managing International Information Systems. The program is appropriate for students who are interested in information technology and its role in today's business environment, irrespective of the academic field chosen during their undergraduate studies. Graduates of the program are ideally suited for leadership roles at the interface between management and IT of global companies. So far, our graduates started their careers in international enterprises like Accenture, Siemens or adidas, in research or became self-employed by founding a start-up.

Combining management science and computer science, the M.Sc. in International Information Systems provides you with interdisciplinary technical knowledge as well as with insights into the different approaches and paradigms of both disciplines. Attending courses at the School of Business and Economics in Nuremberg and the Department of Computer Science in Erlangen, you will learn to work in an independent and goal-oriented way and improve your presentation and team working skills in various projects. The program’s international character is fostered by its international students coming from many countries all over the world as well as by courses focusing on the international aspects of information systems management.
Your employability is promoted through a variety of measures. Regular guest lectures by business representatives are an integral part of the teaching and learning activities. Additionally, seminar and project work often takes place in cooperation with local businesses to work on concepts to solve company-specific problems. The advisory board, which consists of external representatives from companies as well as academia, supports the strategic orientation and further development of the master’s program.
As a graduate in International Information Systems you are ideally suited for leadership roles at the interface between management and IT of global companies. It is possible for you to start your career in occupational areas such as Business Consulting, Project Management, Accounting, Controlling, Enterprise Architecture, Change Management, Technology Management or IT Strategy.

Applicants for the Master of Science in International Information Systems must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree preferably with a focus on business or IT. Applicants with other academic backgrounds may also be considered. The application period usually ends on May 31st. The study program only starts in the winter term (October), it is not possible to apply for the summer term.

It is mandatory for students to study abroad for at least one semester during the course of the program. The modular structure of the program facilitates the going abroad process as makes it easier for students to find appropriate courses that match the curriculum. The modular structure also permits students to spend up to two semesters abroad.
There are four possibilities that count as studying abroad:
We encourage our students to do internships abroad during the semester breaks, but this does not count as a study abroad semester.
