Master Diploma IED in Fashion Communication and Styling

Fashion is a fast moving phenomenon that requires smart and highly specialised professionals able to keep themselves up-to-date with the last trends. Communicating it means having the capability to foresee the changes and present them to the public in its complexity, making the
most of the instruments offered by new media and visual communication.


The Master course in Fashion Communication and Styling trains experts that bring value to fashion products through all the aspects of communication, creating contents such as images, videos, editorial projects, composing the outfits for new collections’ presentations etc. They represent the connection between the manufacturing world and consumers, as they own a deep understanding of market and society dynamics, they fine-tune perceptions and are able to tell value-based stories around fashion brands, products and trends.

Master Diploma IED in Fashion Communication and Styling: Course Content

Main strength of the course is the effective combination between the analysis of the most successful case studies and the solid experience carried out in collaboration with companies and professionals.

After acquiring hard skills concerning the essential historic, cultural and visual background and strong methodological tools, students analyse the functioning of the most important communication processes in fashion: from the press office activity, to fashion shows as moments to enhance visibility and assert the brand identity; from the publishing industry’s dynamics, up to the web and new media.


Modules related to the basic disciplinary fields improve students’ knowledge of those visual, cultural and methodological tools that help them during the development of their projects. Main feature of this phase is the focus on project management.

Subjects related to the distinctive disciplinary fields include workshops, lectures and three main projects, consisting of thematic photo shootings.
These subjects aim at defining students’ ability to better perform their ideas. A specific focus on how to promote their work and their professional profile on digital media is carried out throughout the course thanks to a dedicated module that supports the development of each project.

The three photo shootings are connected by a main topic chosen by each student after the module dedicated to methodology. Each of them aims at providing students with a solid expertise on three different category of styling.

The programme ends with a personal project that assesses the skills acquired and brings out each student’s attitudes in terms of creativity and style. The best Final Project of the year can be published and promoted on Vogue Italia through the sponsorship of Sara Sozzani Maino, Coordinator of the course.

Master Diploma IED in Fashion Communication and Styling: Admission

The Master course works as a valuable specialisation for Italian and international graduates who have completed a BA degree or equivalent qualification, as well as have a remarkable professional experience in the same field of study. Students who have completed all the university exams within the course’s starting date can apply.
 

To start the admission process it is necessary to fill in the registration form at ied.edu/enrolment.

Registration allows applicants to get personal login details for the online admission platform admission.ied.it where they can fill in personal information and upload the required documentation to be admitted to a course.

A IED Advisor carefully supports students during the application, selection and enrolment processes. To be admitted to a Master course, the following documents are required:
 

  • Pre-enrolment form available online within the applicant’s personal area;
  • Passport or ID for EU students;
  • Motivation letter in the language of the chosen course;
  • CV;
  • Copy of applicant’s degree certificate if already owned;
  • University transcripts.
