MSc in Environmental and Resource Management

Are you interested in obtaining analytical and empirical skills for solving the environmental problems of tomorrow? Are you interested in finding balances among environmental, economic and social interest?

To answer these questions, you need a thorough understanding of the many approaches toward the environmental problems.

M.Sc. in Environmental and Resource Management combine natural science, engineering and social science which enable the students to create sustainable solutions by addressing the environmental problems of tomorrow.

MSc in Environmental and Resource Management: The programme

The programme is offered at Campus Esbjerg in English.

Master of Science in Environmental and Resource Management requires two years of full time study, each year consisting of four quarters.
The programme consists of 60 ECTS compulsory courses these 9 courses are offered in the first four quarters. The 30 ECTS electives are typically placed in the fifth and sith quarters, and the thesis (30 ECTS) is to be written during the seventh and eighth quarters. The Master of Science in Environmental and Resource Management is offered in Esbjerg.

MSc in Environmental and Resource Management: Career Opportunities

Do you want to play a role and make a difference by analyzing, managing and solving environmental and natural resource problems and issues of the 21st Century?

With a Master of Science in Environmental and Resource Management you will attain a set of competencies, which allow you to work with a great number of different tasks in environmental management – both in the public and the private sector, as well as in NGOs and stakeholder organisations: 

  • Graduates will be able to design and conduct analysis of existing or future environmental strategies and policies within an organisation or at a societal level
  • Your job opportunities will be many: for example working as an advisor for business leaders, who must consider environmental impacts of their decisions and develop competitive advantage
  • Or working as an environmental leader where you will benefit from the business skills in combination with natural science, technical and economic issues in the proposed solutions to environmental problems
  • With the international perspective the education can be used globally in numerous contexts. Together with the approaches learned, the education will enable you to specialise and find work in your particular area of interest.

Jobtitles: Environmental Process Consultant, Climate Coordinator, Climate Manager, Project Coordinator, Environmental Coordinator, Consultant/Junior Account Mannager and PhD Student.

MSc in Environmental and Resource Management: Entry requirements

To apply for the Master's programme in Environmental and Resource Management, you need a relevant Bachelor's degree. You can apply if you hold a Bachelor's degree in Environmental and Resource Management from University of Southern Denmark (former Environmental Planning).

You can also apply if you hold another relevant Bachelor's degree. The programme is designed for graduates with a wide range of backgrounds, including planning, social science, geography, natural science, biology, earth science, technology and engineering. You are expected to be able to work with social science as well as technology. Numeric literacy and previous experience with quantitative data and models are an advantage. Depending on your level of expertise in these areas, you may be required to complete supplementary courses.
