Introduction
The Master of Arts in Community Music is a one year, full-time postgraduate programme. It offers a comprehensive grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to function as a successful community musician in a range of contexts. The course is aimed at musicians who want to extend or develop the abilities needed to facilitate the expressive work of others and work effectively with a wide range of people in diverse settings. Students attain practical perspectives and hands-on experiences in the emerging field of Community Music in conjunction with developing the skills required to realise projects from their inception to their final execution. The course includes: new music skills, groupwork, fundraising, evaluation, project development and entrepreneurism. The course considers and addresses the growing interest in Community Music throughout the world.
Objectives
- To equip students with a professional qualification in Community Music;
- To develop workshop skills, practical management and all other skills necessary for this work;
- To add to the academic canon of community music writing;
- To consider and be part of the development of community music in Ireland;
- To promote access to excellent participatory music making.
Programme Content
Semester 1
Community Music in Context, Community Music Skills 1, Elective module.
Semester 2
Project Management and Development, Community Music Skills 2, Elective,
Final Presentation.
Duration: 1 Year
Entry Requirements
Primary degree in a suitable discipline with first or second class honours or an approved equivalent qualification (Primary degree: level 8 NQAI). Or an equivalent capability based on prior professional experience.
A performance audition and interview will be required in all cases. Additional audio, visual or written material may be required.

Die Universitätsarena
Auf dem Universitätscampus steht Irlands größter Sportkomplex: eine eigene Arena.
Seit 2002 ist in der Arena ein Schwimmbecken eröffnet, welches in Größe und Bau den olympischen Standards entspricht und damit eine Besonderheit Irlands darstellt.
Die Indoor Sporthalle der Arena umfasst 3600 m². Neben Sprint-und Joggingstrecken ist in der großzügigen Sporthalle auch eine Weitsprunganlage vorhanden. Sportlich betätigen kannst du dich außerdem im Fitnessstudio, verschiedenen Trainingsräumen und im Aerobicstudio. Auch das Munster Rugby Team nutzt häufig die große Fläche der Sportarena.
Jährlich wird die Arena von mehr als 500 000 Kunden genutzt, so beispielsweise durch Sportteams oder Athleten.
Die Arena der Universität Limerick ist 2010 Gastgeber der Special Olympics Ireland Games.
